Wired Productions and Caged Element have now officially confirmed that GRIP: Combat Racing will be released on PC (Early Access End), PlayStation 4, Switch and Xbox One on November 6, 2018. Yesterday, only the PS4 date had been announced.
“The closer we get to the finish line with GRIP: Combat Racing, the more excited we are,” said Chris Mallinson, Game Director at Caged Element. “It’s almost surreal to see how this originally small but passionate project turned into a massive, crazy racing game experience that gamers can soon plunge into.”
GRIP: Combat Racing will be released on PlayStation 4 on November 6, 2018, according to developers on the PlayStation blog. Whether the implementations for PC (early access end), Switch and Xbox One are also published the same day, is still unclear, but probably.
Rob Baker (Principal Programmer at Caged Element) writes on the PlayStation blog, “The game was developed with the Unreal Engine 4, a completely different approach than native programming on the original PlayStation, and together with PhysX, we were able to get the hardware of the PS4 and PS4 Pro, we hope you agree that GRIP is a breathtakingly beautiful game and we’re coming to an end, but we’re happy to confirm that the game will support HDR on both platforms, the PS4 Pro version comes with a number of other optimizations and our goal is 60 FPS gameplay to launch. “
“In GRIP, players race across 22 (…) tracks on a variety of alien worlds, and to reach the finish line, players can use nine (…) weapons and power-ups to dust their opponents Shields, Turbo Boosts, and even Explosive Bullets, Mines, and Rockets: Among other vehicles, the environment is destructible: Players can clear their way through buildings or cause them to collapse over their opponents’ heads, with a total of 15 vehicles to choose from-some of them They are fast and manoeuvrable, others are huge and heavily armored, and all vehicles can be customized with paint jobs, tire sets, ornaments and other details. “
