There is new information about the future 7-nanometer mobile processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. According to the publication XDA Developers, the novelty will receive eight cores, a Snapdragon X24 LTE modem with a reception speed of up to 2 Gbit / s, and a separate Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for an artificial intelligence system.
But that is not all. According to various sources, the novelty can receive different names. So, the well-known insider Roland Kwandt claims that the device will be called the Snapdragon 8150. This supposedly should simplify the positioning of the chip in light of the release of Snapdragon 1000 for laptops running the Windows 10 operating system.
And the Chinese resource Gizchina insists that the new chip will be called Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, so that it is not confused with Snapdragon 850 for the same laptops based on ARM-processors and Microsoft’s OS.
Anyway, the new chipset should be released soon, and what markings it will receive is not particularly important. At the same Snapdragon 850 is not much ahead of Snapdragon 835 when working with Windows 10. It is assumed that the new platform will be significantly more powerful because the developers of ARM-processors intend to compete with Intel.
