Bethesda surprised fans with a new statement about how long-playing will be the upcoming game Fallout 76. According to Pete Hines, Fallout 76 “will last forever”. Bethesda’s vice president of marketing Pete Hines revealed the company’s long-term plans to develop and support the experimental Fallout 76 game, which will be released this fall. Hines was asked how long after the release the developers plan to continue working on the game of Fallout 76, improve it and develop online, and even cited the example of the game World of Warcraft, which exists on the market for almost 15 years. Hines said that while some usually support the game for a year or two, “the support of Fallout 76 will last forever.” Then the marketer explained that he was not joking.
According to Hines, people often ask him how long this or that Bethesda game will last, comparing them with other major projects in the gaming market. However, Hynes as an example calls The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Fallout 4, in which, years after the release, hundreds of thousands of gamers are playing every month, even though there is not even an online component in these games. The popularity of Skyrim among players was so great that the developers had to port the game to all possible platforms, and Todd Howard himself even said that Bethesda “will stop doing this when people stop buying and playing Skyrim.” It was this eternal life of Fallout 76 that Hines meant.
In this case, Hines himself is still not sure what content will receive Fallout 76 after the release, and it all depends on the reaction of the gaming community. Pete Hines recalled that after the release of Fallout 3, many gamers were upset that the game had an ending, and therefore in one of the DLC developers simply removed it from the game, allowing to freely explore the wasteland after the completion of the main plot. Therefore, although Bethesda Game Studios is full of ideas about post-release support for Fallout 76, only gamers depend on how the project will develop. At least, players can be sure that the developers will support the activity of official servers for as long as possible.
The game Fallout 76 will be released on November 14 on consoles PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PC.
