In an interview with GamesTM, director of an anthem Jonathan Warner said that the emphasis on gameplay in developing the game was a kind of “refreshing experience”, while all the other studio games were deeply plotted.
Yes, it is very refreshing. Usually, when it comes to Mass Effect or Dragon Age, people invariably come to talk about the plot, so this is a new feeling when, in a conversation about Anthem, people first of all talk about flights, battles with monsters, equipment, and Javelins. For us, this was a great opportunity to put the gameplay in the first place.
Warner was quick to add that this does not mean that there will be no plot in the game. Developers add interesting elements of social narration to the game when you become the hero of your own story in the general world.
How exactly the presentation of the plot will be embodied in Anthem, we will find out in February, when the game will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
