Nintendo Switch Sales Reached 22.86 Million Devices


Nintendo shared its results for the past financial half year. From the report, it follows that the Nintendo Switch has surpassed another popular platform of the company – GameCube. Earlier, we recall, the hybrid console has already surpassed the Wii U. According to Nintendo, the total circulation of the Switch is 22.86 million devices. Whereas the GameCube, which went on sale at the end of 2001, has gained 21.74 million users all the time.

Over the last financial half-year (ended September 30), 5.07 million people became the owners of the Nintendo Switch, which is 3.7% more than in the same period of the previous fiscal year. By the end of March 2019, the Japanese company expects to ship 20 million consoles. Switch owners do not stint on the games – 42.13 million copies were sold in six months. Last year this indicator was lower by 91.3%. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze bought 1.67 million times, and Mario Tennis Aces – 2.16 million.

Seven years after the start of sales, Nintendo 3DS is also performing well – in this fiscal half, there are a million new devices and 6.27 million copies of games sold to its account. Finally, Nintendo notes a significant increase in digital sales – over the past six months, the “figure” brought the company 71.7% more money than in the same period last year.
