The Red Thread Games employees are from Funcom. The studio’s debut project was Dreamfall Chapters, and now they are preparing something original – the mystical adventure of Draugen.
The authors call Draugen “fjord noir”. The action takes place in Norway in 1923. The main character is the American traveler Edward Charles Harden, who is looking for his sister. He arrived in the country with his ward Lissy – a sociable, independent and at the same time mysterious girl. Together they explore a coastal settlement near the fjords and mountains somewhere in the countryside. According to the developers, Edward and Lissi “unearth the darkness that lurks behind picturesque landscapes.”
The script writes Ragnar Tørnquist – he also composed the plot for the entire series of The Longest Journey. Responsible for the music is Simon Poole – composer of Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Dreamfall Chapters and The Secret World. The game is being developed with the support of the Norwegian Film Institute and the Creative Europe Foundation of the European Union.
The release of Draugen is scheduled for 2019 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game already has a page on Steam, where a text translation into Russian is announced.
